Grisaille is a French word used to describe a painting
technique that involves the subtle blending of gray
tones to create the effects of light and shadow.
Combat! was filmed for 4 seasons in black and
white and in this monochromatic look at life all
the various shades of gray were explored, offering
to us a view of World War II that was always
more than simple black and white.
